i recieved an email from the corps today...guess its ok for everyone who didn't come to Church and are not on the mailing list to read this....yea...

Dear Friends,

This "Faith under Fire" Series has been a timely reminder of how our dependance upon God is tested and tried in the difficulties of life. Many of us in these past weeks and months have known the reality and necessity of leaving everything in God's hands. Whether it's our own health, the health of a loved one or financial security - there is no better or safer place to be than in God's hands in those moments. The peace and presence of God can be experienced in a significant way when, through faith, we have to cling onto God and plead before Him.

I reminded you a couple of weeks ago that Christians are not exempt from the realities of trials and tribulations. Yesterday, I had to share that our Corps financial position has become serious and therefore difficult and brave countermeasures had to be taken to help redress the situation. Despite, over the last 12 months, sharing the financial situation with the Corps through financial presentations and reports the Corps Council, faced with little option, sadly had to ratify the proposal to close the Playgroup and the Family Service Centre. The culmination of this action will be the loss of five members of staff, most of whom are members of our congregation.

Yesterday was not the place to share with you in detail , but I would like to take the opportunity to meet with you to enable me to present, once again, the necessity of this action and to challenge us to a greater dependance upon God. We sing, "I thank you Lord, for the trials that come my way" but the natural reaction in those difficult times is much different. Do we believe that 'everything works together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose?' If we do, then let's live it - let's make sure that, through faith, we claim the victory over whatever difficulty each of us face in these days!

The open meeting to which I have referred will take place on Wednesday 9th November at 8pm in the Auditorium. This is not instead of the prayer meeting, rather we will commit all that happens to the Lord in prayer following the presentation and discussion. If you are still reading this email then I assume you have a stake and interest in this Church - and so you need to attend! I am more than willing to answer questions on our financial situation, but I would be grateful if you could email me these in advance (andrew_dunkinson@smm.salvationarmy.org) This will be in case I need time to refer back to other documents etc.

God is good all the time and all the time He is good.

Every blessing,

Hebrews 10: 19-24
