Spent the whole of yesterday and today attending this course conducted by the an instructor from the training command of the Singapore Police Force and an ex-SCDF officer.
In my opinion, the Police Knowledge course had enough information to cover 3 badges instead of one. There were topics on the various departments of the SPF, the structure of the force and individual NPCs and what how a policeman would handle various types of accidents or crime scenes. All this on top of the law definitions and levels of police power about specific crimes or acts.
The PK course took a whole 1 and a 1/2 day. About 10hours? And the seats we were on were super cramped, leaving not much space for movement, and the chairs were straight-backed and rigid.
Maybe it's a form of training. To make us subjected to psychological torture. The feeling of being forced to sit straight without talking, sleeping or fidgeting too much is very very claustrophobic.
And worst of all, the PK test did not contain half as much stuff as we were taught. Most of the questions were on law, and you only needed basic knowledge and understanding of the law to answer the question. (Like, rioting is different from unlawful assembly cause rioting involves fighting and damage to property or life) No need to memorize the section and chapter or the act or whatever. And there wasn't a single question on the departments of the SPF? There wasn't much of a benchmark set between those who studied and those that did not. And I didn't study either... =D
Homefront Security was slightly better? Cause only 3hours lecture. Again, the questions were very vague. And I didn't really copy down notes either. There's no point copying everything? The point of copying is to memorise, so I just stared at the screen and tried to memorise everything after attempting to copy the first few slides. Yet I'm very confident I will at least pass cause I could answer every question.
But at least I learned some things from the HFS course too. Like Cyanoxide Chloride or Hydrogen Cyanide is a very chim way to say cyanide, or CK. And Chlorine is a choking agent. Or that anthrax comes in cutaneous, gastrointestinal forms instead of the usual breathing in one. Maybe this will all come useful in real life when I er...do stuff.

iHope Conference.
I completely forgot about this conference I signed up for yesterday. And I stupidly went to sleep at 2am thinking I could sleep in and wake up just in time for lunch.
Imagine the horror when my parent's woke me up. o.0
As a result, I felt super sleepy on the way to the conference at ACJC, but then the worship session was like caffeine man. Haha.
Costed $30, but since my father was paying... =)
And there was a $20 Nike Voucher inside. =D
The conference started with a worship session which was great. Then a message by Sy Rogers which was also great and talked about homosexuality and all the challenges that he faced growing up. Was super bizarre cause everything for him seemed to get worse and worse as he grew up but the ending was inspiring.
Then there was three workshops lasting till afternoon. Learned lots of new stuff on evangelism and self-esteem and faith and shining for God.
Went Suntec City for dinner after the workshops. Suntec looks so different. Like there's a burger king now? o.0
Walked around for a bit, then went Millenia Walk to spend the $20 Nike Voucher cause it was only redeemable at Millienia Walk. -.- Bought a t-shirt then went back to ACJC for the night session.
The night worship was the best in my opinion. And the second sermon by Sy Rogers was...wow.
Very Cool how everything falls into place. The 80 year old cycle from Spring to Winter that has been repeating unfailingly since Biblical times and the 10 generations after Adam message..
And I want to read the book The Fourth Turning. Scary how the Authors predicted September 11 and Sars in 1997.
Now I'm even more tired than yesterday. But I feel more relaxed and energetic? And I didn't forget my turtle.
Parent-Teacher Meeting.
Woke up at 5.30, then went back to sleep cause appointment with teacher was at 8.30...then I continued waking and sleeping and waking and sleeping until I was frustrated and just got out of bed. =D
Haha, meeting went surprisingly fast. I think it's the fastest PTM I've been to so far. There was like nothing much to say except that my maths was horrible. Bleah. And that I'm very talkative in class. So I should stop talking to anyone in class from now on and be a good boy. =)
The meeting ended at around 8.30? Spent 5 and a half hours lazing around in school and going to Hougang Mall for lunch with classmates.
Sec 3 Classification Shoot after that. Horrible. I failed cause I missed one bullet in the box. And I couldn't shoot the final bullet for the 9metres and rushed through everything without any pressures. Ah wells, maybe I'll do better when in ns.
Cell group after that. Message was very encouraging. =) And I tried taking 13/mrt back for fun. I think taking bus 13 and switching to the MRT is much scarier. Can you imagine being in a train station completely empty with no human being in sight? But thankfully the train was super crowded. Haha.

I shall go around taking photos of my travels with my new pet turtle. =D

Sports Carnival.
Shall blog chronologically.
Wednesday:
There was a talk given by a police officer on crime prevention. Something about how not to be a victim or offender. Although it maybe be a great idea short term to act powerful and throw your weight around as a police officer showing off and threatening, what kind of impression does it leave us students? My impression of the police force is now gonna be of some crazy organization of mercenaries bent on the annihilation of criminals regardless of moral values.
Helped out with sec1 game's day after that. Gosh, super hard getting them to concentrate and stop talking la. I don't remember being that rowdy...right?
Today:
Bleah. Sports Carnival today. I signed up for table tennis with Hao Xiang even though I know nothing about table tennis. So we looked really lousy and horrible. But hey, at least got score 10 points for falcons. Walked around with Kenny Yeo after that, then played Badminton in the hall for fun.
I'm tired.

New Turtle.
Went back to Sentosa on Saturday after the field trip. Didn't do much except walk around Vivo and exploring. But then, I walked past this shop at Habourfront Mall and fell in love with this turtle! And since it was so cute and cheap I brought it on the spot. =D
Now I'll have to feed it, and play with it, and take care of it and have a whole new bunch of responsibilities now that I'm a turtle owner.
Of course, I also have to make sure it's comfortable from it's precarious position hanging from my phone and that it doesn't interfere with my phone's connection...
And my sisters have a blue and pink one too. Haha.

The Fern and The Bamboo.
Taken from an email I received a few days ago.
One day I decided to quit...I quit my job, my relationship, my
spirituality.... I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one
last talk with God.
"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"
His answer surprised me.
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"
"Yes", I replied.
"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of
them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the
earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the
bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again,
nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.
"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not
quit. The same in year four.
"Then in the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.
Compared to the fern, it was seemingly small and insignificant.
But just six months later, the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and
gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a
challenge it could not handle.
"Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you
have actually been growing roots? I would not quit on the bamboo.. I will
never quit on you.
"Don't compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a different
purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful.
"Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high"
"How high should I rise?" I asked.
"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.
"As high as it can?" I questioned
"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."
I left the forest, realizing that God will never give up on me. And He will
never give up on you.
Never regret a day in your life.
Good days give you happiness; bad days give you experiences; both are
essential to life.

Sentosa Field Trip.
Gosh. I can't believe I took 251 photos minus a few blur ones.
Felt super tired on the way to school. I actually closed my eyes at some point whilst walking to school? But I drank a can of mocha to keep awake. Which made me super high afterwards. Like drug abuse huh. =S
First stop was the Sky Tower. Which I went before. Haha, but super crazy cause everyone was screaming as the platform rotated up and down. Funky. The view was nice, saw a lot more ships than I remembered seeing the last time.
Sky Tower from below.
Had a 30mins 'recess' which I wasted away taking random photos.Oh and I brought cookies with Stephen and Jun Han at Subway. Haha...
Went to the Images of Singapore next. First time ever been there. Quite nice man. But it's kind of like a Haunted house? In fact, I think it's scarier than the Haunted House at Escape Theme Park due to it's sheer size and life-like wax figures gazing infinitely at you. Terrifying...
Entrance.Went to the Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom next. View Meng's worst nightmare? But at least he had the guts to admit it and face his fear man. =D
Took the most amounts of photos here. And there was this hawt butterfly which stayed on my hand for a very very long time and refused to fly off. =D
Coffee effects finally wore off towards the end of the trip. Then I felt started to feel increasingly tired with only 6hours of sleep the night before. Bleah.
Watched Next with Darren, Stephen, Matthew, Eugene, Chuan Hui and Kun Zi after school. I think it's a nice movie with a great plot. But theoretically impossible cause one's mind would simply not be able to comprehend all the different possibilities of one's choices. But it was a great show anyways, but ended with a cliffhanger.
Went Cell after that. Felt super super tired by the time I reached Church...and I actually fell asleep during the sermon. Bleah. But I did remember what the message was about. It was on the rich young man and how we as Christians should be willing to give up everything to follow Christ.
I'm super tired now to continue adding pictures to this post. And I realised I've been awake for 20hours non-stop today/yesterday. Too exhausted to think about anything.

Apathy.
Google.
"an absence of emotion or enthusiasm"
I realised that in one week, I suddenly have double the amount of commitments and things to do.
Procrastination. =(
Got back almost all of my results. I did quite okay for Combined Humanities. Which is great news cause I'll hopefully be able to 'balance' the 2 F9s from Maths. And I did okay for English, but the comments by the marker angered my the most.
Something like:"Gd writing style." Followed by:"You have to learn to complete your sentences. Remember that you are writing an essay and not a feature article for the school newsletter."
Kind of contradictory that a writing style that is deemed "good" is bad. But isn't it obvious that the marker is trying to say Media Club is affecting my results negatively? Or is the marker implying that feature articles are not essays in that sense? There was nothing wrong with the sentences I wrote grammatically and I never got marked down for such sentences for any other essay I've ever written.
Wouldn't it cause less trouble if the marker didn't write that comment on me writing an essay and not a feature article and leave it at that?
Ah wells. And no, the marker is not my English teacher. =)
Went for dry practice yesterday. Haha, was quite okay. I think can pass marksmanship...although the parent's teacher meeting most likely will be a constant source of depression and irritation?
School Ascension Mass today. There was no praise and worship except for the hymns and songs sung in mass. Kind of pointless to have so many musicians playing and taking turns...wouldn't it be better to have only one acoustic and electric guitar? Considering there wasn't that many songs played...
Amount of work piling up is overwhelming. With a large portion focusing entirely on Graphics Design. I wish exams were still here.
I've realised that, I simply don't want to care about anything anymore. I've got no energy to try and maintain a nice wonderful relationship with everybody I meet and I no longer have the enthusiasm to try. What's the point anyways? I don't want to bother about trying to resolve the mess that started last year, and I don't want to care about anything. I want to be a mindless introvert with superficial relationships. I don't want to have to care about where he/she is going, why he/she is angry and whether what I am doing is affecting he/she.
In short: I don't want to deal with anything. At least, not now.
Nothing's changed since the start of the year. Except I'm more tired, more stressed, and now, apathetic.
This is a very depressing post.

The Tree Pigs.
Stolen completely from a book entitled:"Cher, Cher". Which my mother got from somewhere. Read the whole thing to improve your English cultural appreciation.
The tree pigs.
Ones apon a time got tree little pig, call them Ah Beng, Ah Seng and Ah Tee. They think they big alleady and no wan to liv with mama, because liv with mama sometimes quite pek chek and also can become suaku! So they say goodbai to their mama and go out of hous. Mama tell them to be careful of the big, bad woof, because you know, this big, bad sabo king want to eat them. They tell their mama, "we know lah, not scared one. We build house so woof cannot get us. If he try, he will be solly."
The first pig, Ah Beng he think he vely klever, he also cannot wait one, vely kancheong type you know. So he build a house vely quickly. Finish vely fast--how? Aiyoh, he use straw lor, just tie and tie and tie togede and then vely quick okay alleady! Alamak, house just ready, just move in only, the big, bad woof come alleady. This woof very klever kay see, so he pretend and say nice things and ask Ah Beng to let him go inside house. Little Ah Beng also quite klever, he say, "No way man, I know you, don't bluff. Solly you not welcome here."
The woof say "U no let me in mare? U dare mare? I blow your house down then you know." And he blow and blow and he poon and poon and he use all his inside strength and jia lat man, Ah Beng's hous come down. The little pig quick ran to his brother house. Now this second pig, Ah Seng also built one house better one lah--use abastos. More strong right? More steady lah.
Alamak this woof also come to the house and pretend and ask the pig let him in. Ah Beng got tell Ah Seng everything alleady, so they both not let tua pai lan in. So the woof say "Skew me if you no let me come in, I will blow the house down." The two pigs think how can, this house abastos mah, how can blow down one? So they don't care lah, carry on do their own things lor. Now outside the big, bad woof buey tah han lah, stupid how can suan tua pai lan. So he breathe in and breathe out and get himself ready to poon the house down. The two little pigs inside the house can even make face at the woof. Wah lau, they so boh chap!
So the woof poon and poon and poon and poon until lung nearly picha, and then ... the abastos shake and shake and then alamak also come down. Wah piang, the two little pigs frighten until hiam hiam see, quick quick run to Ah Tee house. When Ah Tee see them come, open big door wide wide, welcome them. Ah Tee house use bricks one. The woof come again and the tree pigs tell him cannot chaim siong, they no let him in. He really pek chek, so he poon and poon and poon. Swuay for him lah this house cannot come down, he poon until lung go bust. Then he got heart attack and then go into coma, lagi jia lat.
Wah lau the tree brothers inside so happy, celebrate like mad becos enemy no 1 kena already, no give them trouble anymore - kena coma and in those days also no oxygen tank, no ang chap lee chia around so he die lah! The tree pigs live together and had a good taim togede.
Moral of the story:
Number 1
Do things slow, slow, must plan, think, plan, nowaday they say strategic planning. No lush and lush and chin chai build. Chin chai do things ownself die--never think, how can use straw build house, how can house be strong, sure kena one lah.
Number 2
Don't be so tum sim. Blow down one hous, two hous not enuf want to blow until all tree. Give people some face, don't be too hao lian okay! In the end too tum sim also kena - woof kena heart attack. Same lah we all also like that, enuf is enuf, some people pia until they mati.
Number 3
Those who got must kongsi with those who no got then the world sure better place. Leemember: if you have and your neighbor no have, kongsi lah. And those who tumpang must know cannot tumpang too long, or else.. But when kongsi right hand must not know what left hand give or else no use lah. This mean kongsi quietly, don't let whole world know u give okay. Very chim, right?

NPCC Day In School.
Haha, walked in the rain to school. And I didn't expect my shoes to be soaked, or me to be that wet. =(
Was super tired from everything though, the most lethargic I've felt in days. At least it's another thing checked off this year.
And I got back results as predicted. =( Failed both Maths and Chinese. Although I passed Chinese Oral... =D
Did well for Geog and actually passed Physics though. Unexpected? I would be lying if I said I studied like mad for Geog and Physics. Because I honestly didn't. Was sick the day before Geog Exam. And I was too busy cramming for Maths Paper 2 to bother about Physics.
Although in the end I failed Maths. Ironic.
Dry Practice after school. Less than a month and I'm back at Hta again. =) Relearned all the techniques and advice and safety regulations and everything. Not everyone has the chance to use a revolver, even in the army? Haha, so it's quite cool. But shooting live rounds scarily feels like shooting an airsoft or toy gun. So simple and easy to kill someone in the range. Scary.
Went Long John Sliver with Hao Xiang and Eugene for dinner, then went for cell.
Slept the entire journey on 136 home. And my day finally ended.

The Horror!
Okays...haven't blogged in days cause I was lazy.
Exams are officially over today. So sad right? =(
Why sad? Cause with the ending of exams comes another horror....results.
Sighs, and it's not like O Levels or PSLE where you get a few weeks (or months) break. We're most likely going to get results tomorrow.
No time to enjoy and play....
Today was Chinese Oral Examination. Bleh. Being last in class is horrible when it comes to oral exams. I was one of the last few to leave. Maybe I should consider changing my surname. Like Ah Ming Hui. Haha.
I think I did horribly for the Oral Examination though. Although the teacher optimistically said I would pass cause I was confident or something. =) But I didn't understand the conversation part at all. Something on branded goods, and something about the number 10. So I just used simple words throughout the conversation. Bleh.
Npcc after that...sighs...no time to enjoy before the depressing results come. =(

Interesting how most of the people digging the story now has no idea how to even use 09-f9-11-02-9d-74-e3-5b-d8-41-56-c5-63-56-88-c0
Haha, at least now it's more on freedom of media though. What's wrong with the use of a string of numbers? Most people don't have the access to linux and a HD-DVD drive.
Heh, maybe now I can crack Lenson's Planet Earth.
When will the numbers be illegal in Singapore?

I Love Exams!
One should have an optimistic outlook on negative aspects of life. Hence, I feel that exams are the best thing ever.
Where else in the World can you get a table, chair, awesome view of the outside again, and the wonderful peace and quiet in class never experienced at any other time(unless the teacher is scolding or something horrible has happened).
Where can you find the opportunity to assess your overall performance over a range of academic subjects tailored to your learning ability and standard by age?
Isn't it great to have exams?
Okay. I think that's a way too optimistic outlook, and I can't understand half of what I'm saying. But nvm...

From Third World To First.
Got this book for free during the Media Club talk a few weeks back on Megan Zheng.
756 Pages in total. =D
Started reading on 30th March, ended on 2nd May.
Which would mean I read 756 pages in 38 days. Or 19.89 pages on average.
I think it's a nice book, although it has lots of profound words. Some of which even I don't understand man. (heh) Certainly very insightful on the History of Singapore and it's past relations.
But I think it's unfortunately been an endless distraction up to now. Like I'd read it when I was bored with studying. =/ But now I've finally read it, so no more excuse right...
Ah wells, maybe I'll get an A for Social Studies if the question is on Singapore's economical progress and relations with it's neighbours. But the topics are on Healthcare, and there's only 4-5 pages related to healthcare. Bleah.
